As the capital cities in Australia tackle the issues of population growth around CBD’s, the development of rapid transit metropolitan rail networks are being developed to provide cost effective transport modes.
Large capital investments in these networks carry with them an imperative to execute the project with a focus on delivering the physical infrastructure.
There are risks to the effective operation of these networks that are required to be mitigated during the construction phases. They include:
- Complexity of operational technology integration. New technology and systems will be required to be integrated to existing systems in the network.
- Integration of work practices for new procedures in operating the new networks.
- Identification and rectification of operational issues during the construction phases.
